Abstract

The Amazonian states in Brazil were not able to reach its average in terms of its progress in poverty reduction, child and maternal mortality, sanitation, malaria, HIV/AIDS and secondary education. This event was besides the fact that 70% of the population is urban and so the results for rural areas were even worse. The Brazilian Amazon is 5 million km2 which is the largest area of surviving tropical rainforest and thus greatly affects both regional and the global climate. Thus, among the millennium goals within Brazil include solutions for poverty, disease, primary education, and the environmental sustainability.
