Dementia with Lewy bodies: Clinical and pathological diagnosis

Abstract

Dementia in old age is now recognised as a pathologically heterogeneous syndrome. This short review considers clinical and pathological features of dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and concludes that recent developments have led to clinical diagnostic accuracy for DLB being equivalent to that for Alzheimer's disease and significantly better than for vascular dementia.
