Dementia with Lewy bodies is a complex disorder with important associations with Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. It is important for the clinician to identify patients with DLB because of their unique responses to medical interventions, and to help patients and caregivers more fully understand the disease process and its implications. Further research is needed to improve our understanding of the pathophysiology of this important dementing disorder, with the ultimate goal of improving clinical management of the disease.
