Neck dissection is a valuable procedure for treating metastatic cancers of the head and neck. Radical neck dissection remains the standard for cervical metastasis. The authors describe how they do a neck dissection and review the issues that currently surround the choice of treatment. (C) 2004 The British Association of Plastic Surgeons.
