Abstract

The title compound, C20H18F6N2, a Schiff base, was synthesized by the reaction of 1,4-diaminobutane and 4-(trifluoromethyl) benzaldehyde in chloroform solution and was crystallized from a mixture of ethanol and dichloromethane ( 1: 1). It lies across a crystallographic inversion centre. The crystal packing is stabilized by C-H center dot center dot center dot F hydrogen bonds and pi-pi interactions.
