What can be deposited?
Journal articles and conference proceedings
You can deposit your journal articles and conference proceedings author accepted manuscript (AAM) in the repository. This is the version post-acceptance rather than the publisher-produced proofs or final PDF. Our repository team will check all deposited AAM files and make them available upon first online publication under a CC BY licence without embargo, where appropriate.
This is made possible through Newcastle University’s Research Publications and Copyright Policy. The policy aims to allow immediate open access to all journal articles and conference proceedings authored or co-authored by Newcastle University staff and by students acting as co-author with staff. This maximises the visibility and impact of our research while ensuring compliance with research funder requirements.
Other publication types
For other publication types (including book chapters, books, technical reports, working papers and pre-prints) you are advised to deposit your author-produced accepted manuscript (rather than the publisher-produced proofs or final PDF). The repository team will check all deposited files to ensure they are made available in accordance with publisher policy. If necessary, we will apply any embargoes or restrictions and liaise with publishers on your behalf.
If your research output is in a non-text format, such as artworks and images, we can work with you to find the best way of making these available.
Research data can be deposited in our data repository, data.ncl.
