More recently, there has been a realisation that the nutrition community needs to develop strategies for delivery of personalised dietary advice. This chapter focuses on the role of metabolomics and in particular metabotyping in moving towards personalised nutrition. First, a brief introduction to personalised nutrition is given where key concepts in the area are presented. Following this, the concept of the metabotype is introduced followed by a detailed description of key published papers in the field. Finally, some future perspectives are given. This is an exciting field with much international academic and industrial attention, and the role of metabolomics in the form of metabotyping looks promising.
