Enterprise digital transformation path selection and paradox identification: A qualitative meta-analysis (企业数字化转型路径选择及其悖论识别:一项质性元分析)

Abstract

With the rapid development of digital technologies, digital transformation has become a key strategy for enterprises to maintain competitive advantage. To better understand the dynamic process of formulating and implementing digital transformation strategies, it adopted a paradoxical perspective and conducted a qualitative metaanalysis of 42 published case studies on enterprise digital transformation. Based on two strategic contextual dimensions of transformation capability and transformation scope, it constructed a matching relationship with strategy choices during the digital transformation process and identified their dominant paradoxes. It further explored the pathways of digital transformation and the evolution mechanisms of these paradoxes. The findings reveal four strategic choices in enterprise digital transformation: technology-enabled transformation, data-driven transformation, platform-supported transformation, and ecosystem-linked transformation, along with their contextual characteristics and dominant paradoxes. Further analysis shows that enterprises can pursue two distinct transformation paths of an autonomous breakthrough path and a synergistic integration path, and digital transformation paradoxes dynamically evolve with the actions of managers and organizations. The conclusions reveal the strategic choices and evolutionary mechanisms of digital transformation from a paradox perspective, providing theoretical and practical guidance for the implementation of digital transformation strategy and paradox management.()随着数字技术的快速发展,数字化转型已成为企业保持竞争优势的关键战略。为更好地理解企业数字化转型战略制定和实施的动态过程,从悖论视角出发,对42篇已发表的企业数字化转型案例研究中进行质性元分析,探索企业数字化转型过程的策略选择及其主导悖论。基于“转型能力—转型范围”两个战略情境维度构建了与企业数字化转型过程中策略选择的匹配关系并识别其主导悖论,进一步探究了企业数字化转型路径及其悖论演变机制。研究发现,企业数字化转型战略有技术赋能转型、数据驱动转型、平台支撑转型和生态互联转型四种策略选择,进而识别出其情境特征和主导悖论。进一步分析表明,企业数字化转型可以采取两种不同的途径,即自主式突破路径和协同式集成路径,数字化转型悖论也会随着管理者和组织的行动而发生动态演变。研究结论揭示了悖论视角下的数字化转型战略选择与动态演进机制,为企业数字化转型战略实施与悖论管理提供理论与实践指导.)
