Abstract

Metalation of the tertiary phosphine MeP-(C6H4-2-CH2NMe2)2 with t-BuLi proceeds exclusively to give the novel dimeric benzyllithium complex [MeP(C6H4-2-CH2NMe2){C 6H4-2-CH(Li)NMe2}]2; variable-temperature NMR studies show that this complex undergoes a novel dynamic process in solution.
