Abstract

This paper reports on the first pilot revalidation project in British general practice. It reports on progress to date, methods used to develop revalidation tools and problems identified by those general practitioners (GPs) involved. The GPs were positive about revalidation and wish it to be a peer driven activity. They identified a number of problems in relation to time, resources and expertise. Despite having used General Medical Council (GMC) and Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) documentation to guide their deliberations, they still had concerns about the definition of what is a satisfactory level of practice.
