Abstract

Sound energy released due to superfluid vortex reconnections was quantitatively measured using numerical simulations based on Gross-Pitaevskii equations. Radiation of energy expressed as loss of vortex line length was a function of reconnection angle. A wavelength of few healing lengths, resulted in energy emission as a sound pulse.
