Abstract The aim of this paper is to introduce the concept of work related learning and give a case study of one specific example of the implementation of work related learning into the marketing curriculum. It is important that this work involved developing work related learning in an existing module, an area which appears to receive less attention than new module development. After explaining the background and pedagogy versus andragogy, I give my personal reflections on the project explaining some of the barriers and common misconceptions that I encountered. My aim being to demonstrate that work related learning is appropriate to students considering a wide range of careers including academic research, the voluntary sector and the commercial sector.
